Law Textbooks
Textbooks Measure of College Students Will Break the Text Book Prices
When the U.S. House passes legislation that is intended to give college students a break in the price of their text books, this will be the first for advice regarding the cost of text books legislation.
Many faculty of universities and state colleges will implement additional measures to make sure that the text books legislation is more difficult than the House proposes, but this is the first time that it was done. Legislation sponsored last year by the republican senator, and this lead to the textbooks be required to go through the center of Review Committee that would give the proposals for price increases and quality assurance.
There are many college students who view the price of text books as a huge amount of cargo, this causes many students to part time work are to be in more hours just to pay for essential expenses as a student.
Among other things, the legislation will require:
• University of bookstores sell books without expensive Add-on products such as CDs or study guides, whenever possible. Such packages included a student can greatly increase costs for books.
• Faculty submit a list of textbooks required for university bookstore in time to make sure enough books are available for students enrolled in classes.
• Faculty to limit the use of new editions of books when it changed from previous editions are minimal, allowing for used books available.
Account is now before the full Senate. Both houses of the General Assembly must approve any other’s laws.
Textbook publishers opposed to the legislation. The package packages often save students money – that’s what publishers believe, however, this is something biases, because they see that control prices.

Beyond Textbooks
$32 Technology is a key driver of educational innovation, and a variety of programmes focusing on investment in infrastructure, equipment, in-service training and digital learning resources have been established to promote its usage in primary and secondary schools. So far, little comparative analytical attention has been devoted to understanding how digital resources improve the quality of learning and to assessing the public policies that support their development and use, and the role played by other stakeholders like publishers, broadcasting companies and increasingly user communities. This publication aims to fill that gap by both reviewing and evaluating the process of systemic innovation. Drawing on case studies from five Nordic countries, the report assembles information on the knowledge bases and policy actors which impact each phase of this innovation process and the main factors which influence its success including governance, financing and user involvement. |

Nature of Science in General Chemistry Textbooks
$49.95 Research in science education has recognized the importance of history and philosophy of science (HPS). Nature of science (NOS) is considered to be an essential part of HPS with important implications for teaching science. The role played by textbooks in developing students' informed conceptions of NOS has been a source of considerable interest for science educators. In some parts of the world, textbooks become the curriculum and determine to a great extent what is taught and learned in the classroom. Given this background and interest, this monograph has evaluated NOS in university level general chemistry textbooks published in U.S.A. Most textbooks in this study provided little insight with respect to the nine criteria used for evaluating NOS. Some of the textbooks, however, inevitably refer to HPS and thus provide guidelines for future textbooks. A few of the textbooks go into considerable detail to present the atomic models of Dalton, Thomson, Rutherford, Bohr and wave mechanical to illustrate the tentative nature of scientific theories - an important NOS aspect. These results lead to the question: Are we teaching science as practiced by scientists? An answer to this question can help us to understand the importance of NOS, by providing students an HPS-based environment, so that they too (just like the scientists) feel the thrill and excitement of discovering new things. This monograph provides students and teachers guidelines for introducing various aspects of NOS, based on historical episodes. |

Pharmacy Law and Practice
$92.95 Suitable for both students and practicing pharmacists, the latest edition of this classic textbook provides comprehensive coverage of an essential component of the U.K. pharmacy curriculum: pharmacy law and ethics. Guide to Latin in International Law by Fellmeth, Aaron X. Horwitz, Maurice Edition , 0
$43.49 As knowledge of Latin continues to diminish, the constant use of this language in cases, textbooks, treaties and scholarly works baffles law students, practitioners, and scholars alike. Most of the Latin terms commonly used by international lawyers are not included in some of the more popular law dictionaries. Terms and phrases included in modern dictionaries usually offer nothing more than a literal translation without sufficient explanation or context provided. Guide to Latin in International Law provides a comprehensive approach and includes both literal translations and definitions with several useful innovations. Included is not only the modern English pronunciation but also the classical or restored pronunciation. Its etymology is more complete than the leading law dictionary on the market, and the definition for each term includes examples used in context whenever helpful. Each entry is also cross-referenced to related terms for ease of use. The editors make clear that the understanding of Latin is a critical skill for practitioners who hope to acquire and understand sources of law and each other. |

Criminal Law
$97.49 Current, engaging, and succinct, CRIMINAL LAW, Sixth Edition, describes both the reasoning behind criminal law and the practical applications of that law. It couples a traditional presentation of case law with cutting-edge coverage of recent trends in law. Drawing from the combined legal and practical experience of the authors--a judge and a law professor--the text gives you firsthand insights into the American legal system, and its simple, non-legal language makes it easier to read than other law books. Featuring relevant cases-in-point throughout the text, the authors encourage you not only to learn but also to really think about and understand the law. A new student website also offers samples of case briefings, which provide excellent examples to model your own briefings after. CRIMINAL LAW, Sixth Edition, also utilizes extensive case material, covers the historical background of criminal law, and includes the latest Supreme Court decisions. This is one of two updated “splits” of the combined CRIMINAL LAW AND PROCEDURE, Seventh Edition (c. 2011), by the same authors. |
